Inre Hamnen L2 — Housing and Preschool by the Water
The project forms part of the transformation of Inre Hamnen in Norrköping, where former harbour land is being redeveloped into dense urban blocks structured around canals, parks, and waterfront promenades. The proposal combines housing and a preschool within a cohesive perimeter block.

The block follows the district’s grid structure and urban principles, with defined street edges, active ground floors, and a sheltered inner courtyard. Its location between canals, public spaces, and the waterfront creates a close relationship between everyday urban life and the surrounding water landscape.
Residential units occupy the upper floors, while the preschool is integrated at courtyard level in a protected setting with direct access to outdoor play areas and favourable daylight conditions. The layout allows the preschool to function as part of the urban block while maintaining a distinct and secure environment.
Ground floors facing streets and public routes are designed to support activity and safety through entrances, shared functions, and visual connections between interior and exterior spaces. The architectural expression draws on the area’s industrial heritage, combining robust materials with a varied and contemporary urban character.
The project contributes to a dense, mixed, and water-oriented district where housing, public life, and green spaces are closely interwoven.
