Kvarnstugan is a centrally located block next to Ursvik’s new public square in Sundbyberg, outside Stockholm. The project has a complex program that includes several buildings connected by a common ground floor. A residential building with rental apartments, a cultural center with a library, housing for elderly, and townhouses. Kvarnstugan has a central location and thanks to its wide range of program, people all ages will get to meet naturally. A variation in facade expression and materials follows the pedestrian around the block, featuring brick, wood, concrete, and corten steel, with the structure of the cultural center being a hybrid construction of wood and concrete
